A NEW AGE OF CORPORATE WELLNESS
-What is Mental Health?
A person’s mental health affects how
they feel, think, behave. Mental health
relates to positive emotions and good
functioning (in work, home and social
environments). Having good mental
health, or being mentally healthy, is
more than just the absence of illness,
rather it's a state of overall
wellbeing.
Almost half of all persons aged 16 to 85
years will experience a mental health
problem/illness at some point in their
life and 25% of all persons will
experience an anxiety condition
affecting their work and well-being
during their lifetime. Women are more
likely than men to experience depression
and anxiety (Federal Government 2019 -
pre-pandemic statistics). In the current
health climate these figures are now
viewed as highly conservative. Nearly
two-thirds of people with a known mental
condition never seek help and suffer in
silence while their work performance,
relationships, well-being and physical
health also suffer.
Mental health covers a spectrum of
conditions that vary in how severe they
are and how long they last. Typical
mental health issues concern: emotional
imbalance, mood, anxiety, stress, worry,
negative mindset..
Current research has found that some
people who suffer from a mental health
condition might still experience a
relatively high level of subjective
well-being whilst other people who
report low levels of subjective
well-being might experience few symptoms
or may even not suffer from a mental
health disorder. Ultimately it is
crucial that any organization/business
provide its people a deeper
understanding of mental health and
well-being.
The behavioral sciences provides
professionals administering workplace
health/well-being programs an
understanding how to best assist those
with symptoms of psychopathology (the
study of unsuitable/maladaptive
behaviors). Through the use of
evidence-based, neuro-behavioral tools
and techniques trained behavioral and
performance professionals can assist all
people towards a preferred state of
being, a better quality of life and a
higher level of personal and
professional performance -the prime
drivers of the new economic, post
pandemic landscape !!
Holistic Approach to Corporate Wellness providing Total Personal
Care and Support.
Yesterdays dated definition of occupational
health was focused on physical health and
safety.
The missing key for success was
ensuring people were provided the
brain-mind-body care and support they required
to be their healthy (mentally and
physically) best.
Modern Corporate Wellness Coaching teaches people
skills that prepare them to weather challenging
stressful days and work changes. It
stress-proofs them. Skills learned via a
user-friendly, coaching model protect people
from anxiety, stress, fatigue, emotional
unbalance and other attacks to their health
status. It also helps those who are affected and
down to quickly and effectively recover. The
cost savings are huge plus it builds incredible
trust and loyalty.
Large organizations and
small companies alike are now learning how to promote
Corporate Wellness through a
Behavioral Performance
approach that uses coaching delivery model. This is
all about the need to equip workplaces and places of
learning etc with the
advance
neuro-behavioral tools to
introduce individual and group brain-mind-body 'fitness'
programs to create a more productive, innovative, healthier,
happier and collaborative environment.
Corporate Wellness using a High Performance Behavioral
Coaching
approach
falls under
the umbrellas of behavioral health and performance
enhancement.
It provides unique insights into the brain-mind-body
connection, brain plasticity, emotion, attention, peak
performance and
physical
health.
For over 25 years the
Behavioral Coaching Institute has been
the world leader in the development and
delivery of workplace, behavioral and
performance coach training courses.
The Institute's unique, online High
Performance
Behavioral Coach training
Course
teaches students to understand the
connection of the brain mind and body
and how to best help all people be
more capable of dealing with change via
growth and/or disruption.
Footnote: It is important to note
that behavioral coaching is a three tier
term incorporating whole brain, mind,
body approach. Whereas mental health /
cognitive coaching focuses on the mind
only. It follows that high performance
behavioral coaching incorporates mental
health coaching. |
